Will I be able to get important files off my hard drive?

Q: The other night. I logged onto my husbands laptop and, logged into my email. When I was finished the automatic update for Windows popped up and asked, if I'd like to update. Naturally, I clicked yes and it began to update. When the update was finished it prompt me to restart my computer so, the updates would take effect. When I did this and it started up the screen was black and the it said, in white " Primary hard disk drive 0 not found" and it's making a loud clicking noise. My biggest concern is getting all of my husbands files off of the hard drive is there anyway that this could be done or, is the hard drive totally ruined? Plz help! The files that are needed are in Microsoft word. The files that are needed are in Microsoft word.

A: Remove the hard drive and make that hard drive a slave hard drive of another computer and voila now you can even access the files or simply copy to your desired secondary hard drive or pen drive. In order to make your hard drive a slave search on google on how to make the laptop's hard drive a slave. If not possible there are many DATA RECOVERY CENTRES or HARD DRIVE REPAIRERS.Go to them and your problem will be solved. This problem has actually occured as you have downloaded updates from microsoft on your pirated WINDOWS XP COPY which was running on your laptop.
