Q: I'll be building my first computer tomorrow... I didnt buy an anti static wrist band, but I know enough to touch metal like the case, before touching anything else like the mobo or CPU. What is the best way to insert my motherboad in... well, first I install the cpu and heatsink right.... do I then grab it by the corners? I was thinking of holding it from the printer port and on the right side of its edges.... Or should I grab it from the heat sink?
A: if your not going to get a wrist band at least wrap some copper wire around your wrist and ground it. also don't handle it under fluorescent lighting you will feel the static flowing threw your hands. just hold the board from anything avoiding all circuits buses all that remember computers use 12volts. static shock you can feel is at least 30,000volts.
