Q: i got this multimedia headset with microphone for my laptop but wen i want 2 use it to record sumthin or talk to a friend ..it wont work..i connect it to the laptop but it says dat its not connected..dat kinda stuff..like e.g: on msn i can hear my friend's voice but she cant hear mine and i cant record any voice clip or anythin..so wat is da problem?? help pls! tq! where is the systray ?? sorry
A: seeif your microphone is plugged in. then double click the volume icon in your system tray. (its the icon near the clock, time, right side down corner). volumes pop up.see if microphone is there. if not click options > properties ans ckeck microphone and click ok (it will aslo come if you choose recording (from palyback or recording choices)). make sure that the microphone volume is set high and not muted (mute box not checked). this must solve your problem. If your voice id very low at the other end increase the microphone volume to highest and microphone boost (in advanced) may help. If this does not solve the problem then the microphone must be bad,or the laptop microphone port. to confirm use the microphone with some friends system and try followinf her settings to more sure. don't worry mostly microphones go bad not laptop ports. hope this helps
