Q: I bought Counter Strike Source and Garry's mod yesterday. I went to play Garry's mod, and it said, "Preparing to launch Garry's Mod" and then it goes to a black screen with an hourglass mouse symbol in the middle, and then the computer just restarts. What can I do to fix this? Someone said I have to delete System 32, but then I did some research, and it's the most important folder I'm supposed to have and I'll have to start up my Operating Systems again, so he tried to dupe me. I reinstalled Garry's mod 3 times and logged in and out of Steam, and it still didn't work. Same problem. Counter Strike Source works fine, but I really want to play Garry's mod. I have 7 gigs of memory left and have an nvidia gforce graphics card. I got it to work. I had to press the windows sign when it starts up, it goes abck to my desktop, then I click the Garry's Mod thing on the bottom toolbar, and it brigns up the menu on the game. Works the same with CS:S. I played it once, exited out, and then tried playing it again. I got a message from my friend from Steam, and it messed up GMod. The screen glitches out, and I can't play it. The menu works fine, but in-game, I can't see the gun, and the screen fizzes around.
A: I doubt that you have 7 gigs of memory. I think you mean that you have 7 gigs of hard drive space left- yes, there's a difference, but no, i'm not going to explain it because it would take up too much space and just bore you. Look it up, if you must know. If you have seven gigs of hard drive space, then I think that would be enough to cover both games. Have you made sure that your computer meets the minimum specs for Garry's mod? If it doesn't, then that could be what's crashing your computer. If your computer does meet the minimum specs, then try verifying your game cache files. If this all doesn't work, then you should definitely contact steam support (go to http://support.steampowered.com/ and create an account and then ask your question).
