Q: My new drive cannot be used as it is corrupted money down the drain
A: You can try to reformat the new drive and reclone it. However power outages during HD writes can damage them irreparably. Go the the makers website and download/run the diagnostic tools they provide. The software may be able to repair the damage by marking the damaged sectors as bad and bringing some spare ones into play.
