Q: This is my motherboard, http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=24&model=163&modelmenu=1. I want a new CPU, more specifically, the newest Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Quad series. I curently have the Pentium 4 HT. I will also be getting an extra 2 gigs of RAM, I currently have 1 gig. and a new graphics card, this one, http://www.mvktech.net/content/view/3916/39/1/0/. Will all of this be okay? Thanks for your help.
A: The Intel 915P chipset on your motherboard supports Pentium 4 and Celeron, not Core2 Duo's, or Core2 Quad. Sorry! http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/915p/index.htm Graphics cards all right. Have you bought it yet? Check out this one: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3507889&CatId=28 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkUJYKnsgd4 Not to be confused with the old 8800GTS! (Like the one referred to in your link.) This one uses the G92 Nvidia chip. Highly overclockable. See the last link for spec's and more. With either choice of graphics card, make sure your computer system meets the minimum requirements at least. You'll definitely want to get a power supply with more wattage. (Check the 12 volt rail for it's amp size too.)
