I have a Sony VAIO. And right now, Windows Explorer is going crazy. The screen disappears and resets... HELP?

Q: The screen keeps going in and out, like it's crazy. I can barely click through the start menu without getting closed out. The virus protection is also out of date. Could this also be contrbuting to the problem?? 1. This is a business computer. No PORN has been viewed on this computer. 2. If you're not going to help, you're going to be REPORTED
