Safe to use compressed air to get dust/hair out of keyboard?

Q: I have a really filthy keyboard, but I don't want to go through the hassle of taking all the keys out or taking it apart completely. Could I safely use compressed air to blast the dust out?

A: It's safe, but you're going to be spending a lot of money for that canned air, because one can isn't going to be enough. It might even be cheaper just to buy a new keyboard, unless you have a really fancy one. Plus, compressed air in cans is really bad for the environment. Now, if you have access to a machine that blasts compressed air, that would work really well. There's one at my dad's work and I use it to clean out keyboards, mouses, and anything else that gets clogged thanks to my shedding pets. If your keyboard is that bad, cleaning it out manually is probably the better way to go.
