Windows XP 32 RAM Limitations?

Q: Question to the RAM Gurus. I am running Windows XP 32 I installed 4 gigs of RAM on my gaming system. On boot up it tests for 4 gig. In control panel "System" it shows only 2.5 gig. CPUID shows 4 gig. Does the system use the additional 1.5 gig or is this wasted RAM. How can I utilze the full 4 gig to my advantage? Thanks Boon

A: Computer tech here.....It is quite common that the "System" in the "Control Panel" will mis-read the amount of memory and it is one of the flaws that Microsoft has never provided the patch to resolve that. The amount of your memory is not "wasted". I have seen quite a few computers that shows the "system" reads them incorrectly. Since your BIOS reads the amount of your memory correctly, then it is normal. Don't always rely on the "System" in Windows. Hope this helps.
