Q: what is the difference between the nfts and fat system on a computer?

A: Simply put, NTFS makes your files smaller, but this is only noticable when using hundreds of files. And only Vista and XP are compatible with NTFS. If you want to have compatibility with older pc's (Windows 98, Windows ME etc), go with FAT. Also, FAT is also compatible with some Linux systems. If you can, use FAT32 instead of FAT 16. And use NTFS on your HDD if you have XP or Vista, as it will give you more space. There is a complicated reason why NTFS is better, but I won't go into it.
