Q: Does core 2 Duo mean 2.4Ghz x 2?
A: The Core 2 Duo is better. It does not add up to 4.8ghz total processor speed however, the speed is still 2.4ghz overall. It is better than the p4 3.2ghz. Having the dual cores allows the processor to process data more efficiently by spreading tasks to be handled between the cores simultaneously. Think of a speed boat. It is better to have two motors at same horsepowers than to have one that has 30% more horsepower. Tests have shown the Core2Duo to be up to 40% quicker at some tasks than the p4. I know this to be true for video rendering and editing for sure. I had a p4 3.0 and now have Core2Duo 2.6 and this is an awful lot faster than my p4 was.
