Q: I have a decent rig with 4gb of ram and i have vista home premium vista is constently using 1gb what is it calculating and why does it need to use a gb of ram all the time thanks for your help The Nerd
A: indeed, i cant understand it my self... 1GB what does it use for?!?!?! the DWM graphics system takes memory, any nearly all those graphics etc are cached in memory as well. Other areas too took alot of resources, like the firewall, windows defender, all the other sub systems task scheduler, windows audio etc.. and on and on. Not to mention the 1GB that you see also uses the Harddrive for virtual memory, when i turn page file off on my 8GB memory system vista uses 1GB + Also just the bare minimum WIndows Internet Explorer 7.. and msn messenger + the sidebar (ah that takes up alot of memory too) uses alot of memory 1.5GB...
