Q: ????
A: hi dean overclocking your graphics card is when you increase the core and memory clock speeds past their normal working frequencys each card is manufactuered after hours of testing and some cards fail these tests and are either binned or made into less powerful cards, for example a 8800gtx may fail some of the tests and then be downgraded to a 8800gts or even a 8800gt somtimes when many graphic cards fail because of "wonky cores" they actually evolve into a new line of graphic cards so for example, when nvidia are making the 7800gtx cards they get a 1000 cards that fail the rigourous tests and instead of throwing these away(as they still work, just not up to the 7800gtx standard) the nvidia boys say" hey lets make these into a new line, the "geforce 7800gt" however when you buy a 7800gt,you can in theory increase the frequency and speed and bring the 7800gt up to the speed of the 7800gtx however since nvidia have allready failed these theres a good chance the card will not be very stable and could crash, however some guys get round these problems by modding the cooling and fitting a better gpu cooler such as a Zalman VF900-CU Quiet Copper VGA Cooler(http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SY-008-ZA&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=787&name=Zalman%20VF900-CU%20Quiet%20Copper%20VGA%20Cooler) however overclocking will affect your warranty and can damage the card if pushed too much, use a registered overclocking program such as n-tune(http://www.nvidia.com/object/ntune_5.05.54.00.html) for nvidia cards and the a.t.i tool(http://www.techpowerup.com/atitool/) for ati radeon cards i hope this helps good luck mate !
