Is my monitor dying?

Q: I'm using a 19" TFT with my Compaq Presario PC. When I switch both on it takes anything from 2 to 4 minutes for the TFT display to flicker (and boy does it flicker) to life. When it finally does so the picture is as good as it's ever been. There are no faults or discolourations anywhere on screen, and my computer is at peak performance. Anybody ever experienced this, and if so what was the problem? Any advice would be very welcome. Thank you. The PC and monitor are just over 2 years old. This problem has existed for about 6 weeks or so.

A: No that is not normal. You should get a display as soon as the computer boots. If the computer is running and the monitor has switched off through the settings, when you wake it up it shouldn't take anymore than just a few seconds to display. The only way is to try it on another computer. If it still does it then it's probably on it's way out the door! There is also the possibility that the video card may be giving problems.
