Q: i have a compaq laptop and something strange happened to the screen'; all the colors are black, brown, gray and the pictures of people look like negatives without colors. I've tried adjusting the color settings. The laptop was sitting on my bed, worked fine, but when i came back into the room, this is what had happened. my kids were in the room, could they have hit the computer or something to make it mess up? or did something internal happen to cause this? can it be firxed? ooohhh, i didn't know about that, can a video card be easily replaced?
A: You have small vents on the bottom of your laptop which is NOT made to be resting on a bed which can cover those vents. My guess is you overheated teh video card. If you reboot and it's fine. count yourself lucky. If you get the random colors and random rebooting. You've fried the video card
