Q: Hello, I have a 24 inch widescreen Dell monitor. I am getting ready to buy a new laptop. One has an HDMI out and the other does not. I do NOT do gaming, I just want a nice crisp clean picture for fonts, internet browsing, pics, etc... For my purposes, is the VGA cable enough? Now how about if I want to watch a DVD in it??? Then does HDMI matter? Thank you for your help! -Adam
A: For a monitor as large as that, you really need a HDMI (or DVI) connection for best results. VGA cables were fine in the days of 14 inch monitors, but on modern large monitors they just aren't up to the challenge, and you may experience a blurred image or "ghosting". HDMI/DVI will always be crystal sharp.
