Q: Im am looking at this Video Card i want to buy, but it says you need to have a VGA or DVI-I compatible monitor. How do you find out what your monitor is? Thanks in advance!
A: Most monitors are VGA compatible. Even older CRT monitors. Look in the back of your monitor where the cord connects to the monitor. DVI is much better than VGA because its the more recent type of plug. When plugging through VGA, you lose some picture quality. Most older monitors have VGA. Here are some pictures of what VGA cord and DVI cord looks like: VGA: (This is what may be on the back of your monitor) http://content.answers.com/main/content/wp/en-commons/thumb/d/df/300px-SVGA_port.jpg (This is what the cord looks like) http://www.sincerestate.com.tw/CABLE%20ASSEMBLY/VGA%20CABLE.gif DVI: (This might be in the back of monitor) http://www.atmarkit.co.jp/fsys/cableconnect/05disp_video/03dvi_d-box-l.jpg (This is what the cord looks like) http://www.zpluscable.com/images/products/cmd1889-dvi-end.jpg See how these cords connect to the video card? http://www.icalledshotgun.com/CRArticles/DVI-VGA%20Dual%20card.jpg
