DVI-D any bettert than VGA?

Q: I have a 22 inch widescreen monitor with VGA and DVI-D I dont really play games I just watch TV on my computer via a TV tuner so would it be worth it to upgrade from integraded graphics to a DVI supported video card or would it really not make any difference? Like I said before I'm not a big gamer just average.

A: DVI is better then VGA. This is because when you have VGA is an analog signal, whereas LCDs are digital. So that means your LCD has to convert the analog VGA into a digital signal. DVI manages to bypass this problem by having the signal originate as a digital signal from your computer. Unless your LCD has a poor analog-to-digital converter though, you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference. (VGA has also been known to be fuzzier sometimes due to signal fading interference, etc but that's minimal at best) Oh, also VGA is traditionally limited to 1920x1200@60Hz but i doubt your 22" monitor supports resolutions higher then that :)
