Q: I'm not good with computers so please help. I've recently learned how to connect my laptop to an extended monitor (via extended desktop display or external desktop only display). But when I tried to play a movie or music on the extended monitor, the sound comes out of my laptop and not the speaker from the external monitor. What do I do? How can I make the sound come out of my external monitor/tv?
A: I assume you connect your laptop to external monitor/tv via the vga port or s-video cable. This do not output audio. There is a headphone input jack in your laptop. You can use this to connect to a headphone/earphone. To output sound to TV or an auxillary sound system, you need a cable. At one end should be 1/8" male headphone jack (going to laptop) and at one end a male RCA jack (going to TV).
