Q: okay so i am looking in to buy a new computer..but i am a little tight when it comes tomoney. so i was wondering if you could use two different brands for you computer and monitor. ex: dell monitor & HP computer ????? i need help. =[
A: Sure, it's just like you can hook a Sony DVD player to a Toshiba television. There is only one thing to check. Most monitors and computers connect together with a standard VGA connector. This is a D-shaped connector with 15 pins. So for most people any monitor connects with any PC. Many new PCs use a rectangular Digital connector on the video card. That means a standard VGA monitor cannot be connected to this card. When you buy your new computer, you should verify that the video card has a regular VGA output connector.
