Q: okaayy so i just bought a new dell compute screen monitor to complete my computer, and i thought i set evertyhing up. put the cords were they should be, and so i turn the computer on & the screen is just blank. i don't know why it's like this? am i suppose to do anything else? yes the monitor is on, in the beginning it does show sumting but then it'll go blank. but you know its still on but its blank.
A: If an installation disk came along with it the it would be a good idea to install the software first. It's possible that your graphic card is not compatible with the new monitor. Check the requirements for using this monitor. Lastly and this is important... Unplug the new Monitor and go to Device Manager... uninstall the Monitor, then shut down the computer. Now plug in the new monitor and restart the computer. What you are doing is removing the old driver for your old monitor and restarting the pc so that it will be forced to search and install the driver for your new monitor. When the computer restarts Windows will automatically search and install the driver if it finds one. If not it will prompt you for a disk. Insert the installation disk and click ok. It should find the driver on the disk and install it.
