What is a dual-boot system?

Q: and how do you run it?

A: A dual boot system refers to a system that has two or more operating systems installed in a way that you can chose which one you want to start when you turn on your PC. (For example Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux on the same machine.) Unless you have a need to run two different operating systems, you don't need a dual-boot system. Setting one up depends on the operating systems you are going to use. (Recent Windows OSes detect each other automatically, most Linux Installers will also detect Windows and add it to their boot menu, but not the other way around.)
