Q: the resolution should be 1440 X 900. apparently my graphics card doesn't support. Can anyone help me find out if there is a driverupdate that would allow this monitor resolution. It irratates me that I specifically asked the salesman and he said oh yeah it will be fine on your system. and he told me it has speakers which it doesn't
A: Your computer has a VIA KM400 chipset with integrated graphics. Unfortunately, VIA has not released a later driver with support for common wide-screen resolutions. There may be a way to tweak the driver to support other resolutions, but I don't know how to do it. The easiest way to support your new monitor is probably to pick up a cheap (second-hand) AGP video card with either an Nvidia or ATI chip on it. These have good drivers that would support your new monitor. Check out Ebay or Craigslist; you should be able to find something for under $20, if not free.
