are any type of monitor's compatiable with computers?

Q: hey guys recently my mouse asmashed my monitor and 3 quarters of it are black so my dad wants to buy a new monitor. im wondering does it matter what monitor i buy, or would any monitor work? my mother board is a v8 intel one in case you need to know. would any monitor work with my comp? even one of those old fat white ones? i have 2 plugs one that looks lke a power cord a black one and a b lue one with 15 pithnkas sorry the last sentence is i have a black power cord and a blue one with 15 pins thanks

A: Yes, any monitor will work provided that you have the right cable (even the fat old white ones). The blue cable you have with 15 pins is a VGA cable, it's a slightly older standard than DVI but is still fine. Just find a monitor with that kind of plug and you'll have no trouble at all. The black power cord will power any monitor- there's a standard that crosses both monitors and computers. (So yes, you could even use it with your computer if you wanted!)
