Q: My new widescreen monitor from Dell suddenly got all these color boxes on it last night. The IT man from my job suggested it might be pixels. Is there anything I can try for this problem? All of a sudden they covered the entire screen while I was at a site.
A: Hmm. it doesnt sound like dead pixels, they wouyld just show as a few dots that are different colored from the ones around it, and inconsistent with what the image should be....if the screen is filled with different colours this could be a video card issue....if your card is old our really low powered it could be getting to hot, which could cause crazy images on the screen completely different than what should be there....If you turn your computer off and then turn it on after about 10 fifteen minutes, and the problem is gone...but then returns. You should check to make sure you dont have a lot of dust blocking airflow through the computer that could cause heat buildup.........Hope that helps, just an informed shot in the dark.
