Q: I just reformatted my HDD on a dell Optiplex 170L. I am trying to reinstall the drivers, but to no avail. I can't update my monitor driver through the monitor tab of advanced settings in the display properties window (says default monitor and the properties button cannot be clicked). This is the only way that it tells me to install it on the driver CD and also the DELL website. Is there another way to do this?
A: Your monitor doesn't need a driver - your videocard does. Download the correct graphics driver from Dell for your operating system & install it. The Intel Video driver at; http://support.euro.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=uk&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=PLX_PNT_P4_CEL_170L&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid= should be correct: Just run it from it's current location.
