Q: On my hp pavilion a6400f pc there is only 1 monitor port I really need my two screens please help
A: You need to upgrade your video card to support two monitors. The video card is the device that controls signals to the monitor. A dual monitor video card has two ports with a series of pins inside sockets. A standard video card uses only one socket. However, this socket is different looking than the ones used in dual monitor video cards. Most monitors have a blue cable that plugs into the computer's video card. This standard cable is called VGA. A dual monitor video card uses a more updated connector that requires two special VGA to dual monitor adapters. These adapters are usually white colored and are about 2x as long as a VGA connector. Since you will have two monitors, you will need two of these adapters. If you buy the video card as a computer upgrade, it is likely that the adapters will be included with the card. Once you install the new video card, you will notice that the new one does not go in the same port as where the old one is. Once you plug in the new video card, the single monitor video card will no longer be used.
