LCD Moniter?

Q: My mom's office is offering hp lcd moniters for $75. I've seen them and they look very nice. My question is would i be better off buying a brand new one from hp for $150 (i dont really care about the new design of them) OR buying them from my moms work OR finding a better deal on ebay. Would there be anything wrong with a moniter that has been around for a couple of years? what should i do?

A: buy a new one. LCD's have an inverter in them that can go bad making the screen unreadable. it powers the backlights. it is not a user servicable part...so the older they get the more prone to failure they are. Age isn't a good thing on the LCD panel itself. I would buy a new monitor with a factory warantee. that way you can get the size you want and you're covered for a while if you have problems.
