Q: I need some help, I am wondering, I have an elite with the HDMI out, if i get a hdmi ---> dvi cord, will it be compatible with my monitor, and what is the highest resolution I could have? I am currently on 1440 x 900. Thanks Oh yes, I have the sound adapter and earphone that go hand in hand with it, so I'm all good.
A: That should work, however an HDMI to DVI cable forfeits the sound coming from the HDMI signal once its installed to the DVI port. Microsoft has a special adapter for sound, but its only included with the HDMI cable they sell. Another alternative would be to get the VGA adapter which also comes with said sound adapter and doesn't look too bad. Your 360 will do its own auto-adjusting as far as resolutions go, however, you may need to select the closest resolution if your native 1440 x 900 is not supported.
