Q: yesterday i got the blue screen of death on my windows xp...so i tried to put my pc into safe mode & scan it for viruses using ad-aware. It didn't find anything, but after rebooting my pc , the blue screen didn't appear again...so i just wanna ask...is it gone for good?
A: This is Windows...10,000 unrelated, unnecessary processes all running simultaneously and at random. Nothing is repeatable and nothing is predictable. A virus is probably not going to result in the BSOD. That's too simple. A virus will erase your hard drive or hijack your system, but there's no reason to simply crash it. Also, Ad-Aware is not going to find or eliminate a virus. It is designed to rid your system of adware, which is annoying but not lethal. You need an anti-virus program to get rid of a virus. I recommend AVG. Stay away from Norton and Macafee! Lastly, if the system rebooted OK, just keep going. Whatever caused the crash may never happen again. Life with Windows...get used to it. Unless it happens again or regularly, you should be fine. Good luck.
