Computer Monitor Goes Black?

Q: i recently got a new top of the range computer. My uncle, (a it technian) helped pick the best one for me. Ive had it for nearly too months, things have been working fantastic. Yesterday however, my computer monitor very suddenly went black. I've tried restarting it, nothing changes. When you press the off switch on the monitor, it switches off and when you press it back on again, it switches back on and for around 3 seconds my computer is as normal, then it goes blank again. Im puzzled and i was wondering if it could be a lose wire or something. any ideas? Yes, it does flicker. Then it goes blank again.

A: It is most likely a loose wire. Look on the back of your computer, and you should see a rectangle-shaped blue connecter plugged into the back of your case. It may also have a couple of hand-screws on each side. Just make sure that cable is not loose. You may want to screw it in on the sides. If that does not solve the problem, then it MAY be something else... The video card itself could be loose from the motherboard. Or something inside the monitor could be malfunctioning. But I would be suprised if tightening your monitor cable did not fix the problem.
