why is my computer screen stating

Q: My 4 year old Gateway GT4010 computer is doing something weird. When I attempt to turn on the computer, the powerlight comes on the tower and it seems to be up and running, however, the monitor says "no signal" and then turns off. I changed the male/male cord that connects the computer to the monitor and it still didnt help. What could the problem be??? Im desperate! Of note, I tried the monitor on a different computer and it worked fine. Also, this malfunction happened after the computer froze and was turned off.

A: Your monitor cable could just be loose. Check both ends of the cable and make sure it didn't get pulled loose. Check where it plugs into the monitor and also where it plugs into the videocard. If that that doesn't make the screen appear, then check to make sure your videocard itself didn't come loose. Sometimes moving the computer around can loosen the videocard, because the videocard wire gets pulled by other stuff near or around the computer. Just have a phillips screwdriver on hand and pop the side of the computer off and make sure the card is tightly fitted into the PCI slot. Hope this helps. Best of luck!
