Q: my computer turns on for like a minute then the screen goes black and i cant do anything but the computer is still on any ideas why this is happening and how i can fix it? thankyou
A: First guess is that the Operating System is corrupted. You will need to format the hard drive and reinstall the OS .(XP?) First, you must set the BIOS to boot from the CD-ROM before it boots the hard disk. At the very first screen, tap the F8 key a few times. Enter the BIOS\BOOT SEQUENCE and set the CD into the first position. Put the OS disk in the CD bay and restart. Follow the prompts. I suggest you go to the Microsoft website and print the instructions for reinstalling XP (or whatever.) Good luck.
