Q: I have a Lacie electron 19" blue IV crt monitor. The color is accurate. The brightness is fine. With out warning the monitor will go to black except for a bright horizontal line in the middle of the screen. If I wait a while, the image pops back to normal. Sometimes when I turn the monitor on and off, it will be back to normal. Is the graphics card or the monitor going bad? Or electrical issues due to recent electrical work in my building?
A: probably the monitor. you have a problem with the transformer shooting the electron beam. I'd call lacie's customer support. Ask what they recommend, if they do recommend replacement. Blame the recent problem on the electrical work.
