Q: I've had the same monitor for a 8 years now, and it gets real real hot, i know it's going to be jap packed with dust and wanted to just clean out the dust. is it safe/possible to get inside the caseing? I know there is a lot of current stored up in there, even when unplugged. so all i want to do is just give it a cleanout, i'm not a beginner or anythink, but never undertaken anythink like this. lol. or do you think i should take it to a TV repair shop and ask them to clean the insides out?
A: I would do it in the morning, turn it off, and leave it off. let it power down, then switch off from monitor and then from the plug and unplug it all, leave it over night to depleate the charge, it might take more then 12 hours if it's old or has large capacitors. then get somethink like a clean paint brush, and vaccume cleaner. or if it's a nice day, a compressed air can, and take it outside, and sprey everywere!!
