Q: Whenever I turn on my computer my monitor glitches out and colors pop up where they're not supposed to. Before I can even log on, the monitor ends up just turning itself off. I have plugged my Xbox 360 into the monitor and it works fine, which makes me think its the computer. What could possibly be wrong with it tho? I have had to resort to just using my laptop because of this problem. It starts at the BIOS.
A: Do you get this as soon as the computer starts up (on the BIOS screen), or when Windows starts? If the former, it could be the video card. If the latter, I'd first try starting windows in safe mode and lowering the refresh rate and/or resolution. You might also need updated drivers. My video card has a tendency to sometimes display different resolutions and/or refresh rates than the Windows control panel says it is displaying.
