My D-Link Model DI-624 doesn't have the range it used to... help!?

Q: My Router, I use for Xbox 360 live doesn't connect to my Linksys... i've had it for almost 3 years now... but it just suddenly failed? Is there somthing i must install? If it helps... the status light blinks slowly... (Blink............ Blink............Blink..... About 1 second intervals...) please help... I will give best answer to the one who has most knowledge about this... (Note: it must be correct) No neighbours I know of have gotten one... Question to Brian F... how to I change the channel?

A: It's possible the chipset has over-heated, been damaged by power surge, etc... Try blowing out the interior with a can of compressed air and the "extension nozzle" that comes with it. Also, check dlink's site to see if there are any firmware updates available which might help. You could also try resetting back to factory defaults (Instructions will be on dlink site, but often involves holding the reset button down for 30 seconds... or hold it in while plugging power into the router...) Have you gotten a cordless phone recently? 2.4 GHz cordless phones will interfere with ALL the channel frequencies... Has a neighbor close to you gotten one? Has a neighbor gotten a new wireless router and put it on the same channel as you? try picking a channel at least 2 numbers away from your neighbors channel...
