Q: I have a moniter (22") hooked up to my laptop and keaboard and mouse and speakers so it would be like a desktop. Here is my question, I know that there is a way to hook up my moniter to my TV to watch TV on my moniter but I don't know what cables i need. Does anybody know what cables i need to hook up my moniter to my TV so i can watch TV on my Moniter? Please Help! Thank You!
A: If you have a newer monitor it probably has HDMI or DVI inputs. What this means is that you would need to purchase one of these cables (depending on which you have) to connect. However, if you want to connect your tv directly to your monitor you may be out of luck. Most (if not all) tvs do not have HDMI or DVI outputs. In this case you would have to have an HD Satellite/Cable receiver with one of these outputs or one of the new digital tuner boxes with an output such as these. If all you currently have is the monitor you are looking at spending quite a lot of money, the cables and the boxes can be reall expensive, so shop around. Check this picture to see which input you have. (the cable on the left is HDMI and the right is DVI) http://www.digitalhomethoughts.com/images/dvi_hdmi.jpg This is a tuner with HDMI out: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8102796&type=product&id=1161734592183 Also note that they make HDMI to DVI adapters and vise-versa in case you have the opposite input on your monitor that the device outputs. Hope this helps
