Q: My monitor went out last night. The CPU is working fine. I also have the monitor turned on but the light is black. All cables are connected and in place. I also shut down my computer and rebooted it. Nada! No monitor but everythings else is working fine. My question is this, is it the monitor gone bad or could it be just the vidio card.
A: It could be either.Monitors rarely go bad, I'd sooner think it was your video card.If you can't see your screen to find out, it's very hard to make a determination.It could just be the connecting cable from the tower to the monitor too, those can go bad.That's where I would start, it would be the cheapest fix and if that's not it, you still have an extra cable.Try to borrow a monitor from a friend long enough to check it out after you try the cable.
