Can my Regular laptop screen view a ripped 1080p HD-DVD file?

Q: Hey peoples, I have a regular old Dell laptop, probably older than HD-DVD itself, and it does not have an HD-DVD drive. Would I be able to watch a 1080p film that is a file (on my flash drive from my roommate's HD-DVD rip folder) at its full resolution on this screen, or would I actually be better off watching a 720p or a regular res film? The max resolution of my screen is 1680x1050 pixels, if that helps. Thanks! --C

A: Just go with standard res. If it works, it will be the same if the screen is not HD.
