Q: It randomly turns black, and when i turn off the monitor and then turn it back on,the screen shows up but is very dim,and then it keeps doing the same thing for about 5-8 more times.I cant get any work done with the screen going black all the time.I thought it was the cable,so i got a new one and switched it,and for a while it was working, but then its going back to the same black screen!and im pissed off, because that cable wasnt cheap! Please help me! hmm..maybe it has to do with my video card because my sims 2 wont work right as explained in my other question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Alp5sMkOsoTHvFHsJO2hGBzsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20080529165120AAUUqpP But I dont know..how do i check if it is ok?and how do you define a "good video card"?
A: It's either your video card or a faulty monitor. Have you tried: Checking if your video card is correctly seated? Is your video card overheating? Updating your video card drivers? Using another monitor or hooking your PC to a television, if possible? If nothing works, it might be a busted video card, faulty monitor or a bad motherboard.
