Q: I'm trying to connect my computer to my HD TV so I'm able to watch shows on my TV that i stream from the internet. The problem occurs when i connect my VGA cable to my TV, and it reads "Mode Not Supported." I figured that it was some kind of setting that i had either on my computer or my TV that wouldn't allow the conversion. I have tried to mess with the settings on both of them, but i'm still getting the error message. Any advice that anyone has would be very helpful and appreciated. Here are the specs for both: Computer: Gateway GT5432, NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE graphics card. TV: Samsung LNT4065FX/XAA
A: If there is an S-Video connector on your video card I would try an experiment. Run an S-video cable to the TV and see if you get the analog image well. This will tell you that the HD image is blocked from being hijacked to your TV. It must be HDMI to HDMI for a hand shake to occur and get around the HDCP protection. Hope this helps sort it out. BTW, my S-Video connection gives me a great picture as my HDTV scales analog 480i very well.
