Q: pentium 4 pc 504mb of ram, running xp pro sp2. are modded os's garbage basically? does the os you are on effect your monitor, like the flaws of it? should i just stay on this os and stop switching? i just switch because to see if my monitor problem goes away. what are good crt brands on craigslist to look for?
A: No. that's not a good setup. the P4 is an inefficient power hungry space heater. Each of my four cores running at 2.4ghz can run circles around a 3.8ghz P4 while the computer remains silent due to it's low thermal output. Modded it what way? Affect the monitor in what way? What flaws? There are a lot of nice cheap Dell branded monitors that are actually Sony Trinitrons. I'm using a 22" Sun that's pretty nice. it weighs like 75lbs though.
