really dark computer screen?

Q: my computer screen is really dim, like i have went to the 'brightness' screen and stuff, i am not a complete idiot, and it was all the way up, but it is still really dark, it is getting hard to see my games and stuff, i am no computer geek, but i could sure use one right now!! please help, it is really getting on my nerves :) thanks

A: If you are using a CRT display (one with a tube), then most likely, your monitor is at the end of it's life. If you have an LCD display (Thin flat panel) then, the the problem is probably in your display drivers. You may want to check there as well if you have a CRT monitor. Look for something in there like gamma correction or contrast. Can't tell you exactly where to look because different drivers have it in different places. Good Luck
