Why can't I increase my monitor resolution?

Q: When I go to display settings, then go to settings, my monitor resolution won't go above 640x480. I go to advanced settings and click on the monitor tab and it says "Default Monitor" but won't let me click on the "Properties" button. How do I fix this? I hate everything being so big on here... PS My computer crashed yesterday and I had to reinstall Windows, but I didn't have a driver or anything for this monitor and it was working fine.

A: If you don't install the specific drivers for your graphics card, on setup Windows will default to the lowest-common VGA driver and it is limited to 640x480. Find out what graphics card you have, go to the manufacturerer's website, download the latest version of the driver, install it, and you should be able to change resolution again. Good luck.
