My computer monitor has just stopped working?

Q: Hello, I've an Advent computer running XP SP2 which is a few years old but no problems. I left it running overnight and the next day the monitor had stopped working - well it works but can't find a signal. I turned off the computer and tried rebooting but to no avail - the PC seems to boot up fine but just doesn't seem to be sending a signal to the monitor. I've played with the cables and everything's plugged in ok and the monitor port is close to all the other ports which apparently suggests the graphics card is connected to the motherboard instead of separate from it ... Really not sure what to do - doesn't appear that the monitor is fooked because it turns on, it just doesn't receive a signal but it's very annoying! Can anyone help please? Thanks in advance Hi guys - thanks for your responses; when I say it boots up fine nothing is seen on the screen but it "sounds" like it boots up fine in that it makes all the right noises (apart from 2 beeps at the start which it never used to make) Sorry I can't be more specific! I'll def try on another computer though and see if that helps

A: Please try again - Power off machine and monitor. - Remove all connections (power, mouse, keyboard, network cable, printer cable, video cable, etc) - Connect all cables (leave power cable to last) - Double check cable connection (remember to check behind your monitor as well) is secured. - Power on machine. - If problem persist, try using a spare monitor/tv (to determine if monitor is faulty/graphic card issue. - After that, you could decide what needs replacing. Hope this helps,
