Q: I have a 40 inch HDTV and i would like to use it as a computer monitor for when im playing games or watching videos. The available connections are the following: 1. THe normal 3 color cable(red white yellow) 2. DVI 3. S-video 4.. Component 5. HDMI 6. RGB-DTV My graphic card has two DVI slots and one s-video slot. Would it be best to use a DVI to HDMI cable? Or should i connect DVI to DVI? Im not sure which solution is the best so that i don't get any weird resolution or something on the TV. What is your opinion?
A: You can simply use DVI cable as even if you use DVI to HDMI adapter its going to use DVI bus itself so there wont be diff. in performance. However there are certain graphic cards which have HDMI slot in it the only diff. is that HDMI carries audio signals as well. Both DVI and HDMI use similar encoding scheme for video so you wont find difference in graphic output. Please do visit the bottom link : Points appreciated.
