Q: Hi, im trying to set my screen resolution to 1024x600, it is the screen resolution of the new Asus EEE, i want to get one, but right now, id like to try to get use to the limited resolution, but all programs that ive tried (ie Multires, Windows own custom modes) don't have this particular size, is their anyway to manually enter this resolution in? I am not talking about photos, i am talking about a resolution of a monitor, ie. in Monitors section, a Picture would not be distorted necessarly, i would depend on the dimensions of the screen itself, ie 4:3 or 16:9, i asked only if anyone knew how, and i don't want people who just randomly post answers without reading what the person (who in this case is me) is actually wanting for an answer.
A: Hi, The Asus EEE's 1024x600 is that particular monitors native resolution for the size of that display (8.9") On an 8.9" display, 1024x600 is not going to look limited, because of the small physical size of the display. To answer your question, there is no way to manually enter this resolution, (on another monitor) because, there is no direct correlation to another resolution. On a traditional 4:3 17" display, the native resolution is 1024(width)x768(height). Notice that the display is not 17.3" or 17.6" it's 17". Where as the EEE uses a display that is not a straight 4:3 aspect ratio. So, there's nothing that you have to adjust to, in advance, other than working on a physically smaller platform. Also, ASUS has announced that they will be releasing a 10" display later this year. http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/article/144869/asustek_to_launch_eee_pc_with_10inch_screen.html
