Connecting laptop to separate monitor?

Q: My laptop screen is not working..as soon as turn it on..all i get is black...and it slowing fades into this........greyish colour and i get weird colour strips..........but the computer is fine other than that...........because its LG I have to go thru this.....complicated process of getting it repaired....which is gonna take awhile so while they are responding to me, I thought I'd buy a cheap CRT used monitor so i can connect it to my laptop. My question is................can all crt monitors be used in this? I'm trying to buy used one but Im afraid it won't work when I actually connect it to my labtop... and also, when I connect it to the new monitor what do I do next? I heard I had to press FN and some other key to pass it onto the monitor? is that same for CRT monitor as well?

A: Yes connecting the CRT is no big deal. Most laptops detect the monitor connected and you do not even need to hit the FN screen select key. Its not complicated at all.
