Q: One hinge is broken the extended warranty from BestBuys is a runaround. Are there aftermarket cases that I could put the screen camera and mic into and just mount near the keyboard? Unit does not get moved very often. It is a HP Pavillion dv9000 It is the left hinge. Any estimate on costs to repair w/o warranty. I live in Mx away from large cities. We are leaving the top up without movement at present (6 months)
A: I have seen more than a dozen of these hinges broken... that same DV9000 model, at the repair shop I work at. 11 of the 12 were the left hinge. It is because of improper assembly at the factory. No, with that laptop, you are limited, because of the design to replacing the screen cover and/or hinges.
